RemNote has more diverse workflows for every type of studentįlashcards are great for memorization, that’s a fact that both Anki and RemNote cover beautifully.

RemNote has a desktop app and Android App (IOS in the works)Ī lot of folks mentioned that they didn’t feel comfortable having their studies restricted only to a browser, but as of 1 month ago, RemNote has released a stable desktop app with the option to store local databases on your computer, so you own your notes and have them offline at any time. Tags, formatting, and flashcard types are carried over with no loss of organization with the desktop app, you can import images from Anki cards as well.you can import entire Anki decks (.akpg files) or just choose subdecks and start studying immediately.

To address some concerns people had with integrating RemNote and Anki in the past, here are some notable changes in the update log (and updates will no doubt continue to be improved upon) RemNote is a smart notes tool with spaced repetition and tons of other features that make it customizable and effective for all types of workflows. Which is why we started developing RemNote. I’m not bashing on Anki in the slightest, I think it’s an amazing tool, but for me, it doesn’t check all the boxes for an inclusive learning experience.

Learning is an inclusive experience and I think churning through flashcards isn’t sufficient to properly understand and connect the dots between your studies. But being able to actually understand and apply/teach my studies was lacking. Mainly, Anki was amazing for memorization. However, Anki has some serious limitations that made me reach for an alternative. Since then, spaced repetition and flashcards have no doubt become my main study tool. It served me well during my first year of medical. I’m a current 3rd year medical student in the US and was a long time Anki user.
